Michael Jackson 'secret son' claims: Doubt cast on 99.9% DNA test results

Doubt has been cast on the validity of DNA test results claiming that Michael Jackson fathered a son in secret during the early 1980s.

A live press conference held on Thursday (March 6) claimed that there was a "99.9% probability" that Jackson is the father of Brandon Howard, a 31-year-old musician and producer who has worked with artists including Ne-Yo, Chris Brown, Missy Elliott and Wyclef Jean.

However, a report from TMZ has since expressed scepticism about how genuine the purported results are. It has been claimed that one of the testing facilities where the results were matched, based in Ireland, does not appear to exist.

At yesterday's press conference - which was given by Coca-Cola Hellenic heir Alki David - Beverly Hills dentist Dr Joseph Goodman stated that Jackson's DNA sample was taken from a 30-year-old dental impression obtained at auction.

Howard, who was not present at the press call, posted a video on Facebook on Thursday in which he said that "it seems a lot of people are speaking on my behalf".

He denied calling TMZ or "putting out [the] story", adding: "I have never self-proclaimed to be Michael Jackson's son."

Howard also said that he is "definitely not" suing Jackson's estate, noting: "I'm taken care of very well, and also, I make my own cash."

He confirmed that he has undertaken a DNA test, but was adamant that it had "nothing to do with any of this, I swear on my life... whatever the DNA test comes out to be, the results, it's what it is".

Brandon's mother is musician Miki Howard, who was reportedly represented by Michael Jackson's father Joe in the early 1980s. She also appeared alongside Janet Jackson in the 1993 movie Poetic Justice.

Jackson's groundbreaking international hit 'Billie Jean' was inspired by the groupies he and his brothers encountered during their days as The Jackson 5, according to an account in his 1988 autobiography Moonwalk.

However, J Randy Taraborrelli's Jackson biography The Magic & The Madness claimed that 'Billie Jean' stemmed from a letter the singer received in 1981 from a fan who claimed that he was the father of one of her twins.
