Metro Detroit weather forecast: Cloudy, cool Monday

DETROIT – A nice start to the work week with temps in the low and mid 60s as you head out early and a much more comfortable air mass Monday and for much of the week.

We will start out with a little bit of sunshine, but clouds will be filling in from the north and may produce a few light showers in our North Zone covering the Thumb region at times. The rest of us will see mostly cloudy skies most of the day and highs hanging in the mid 70s.

With the clouds and shower chances, our North Zone may not get out of the upper 60s this afternoon. Most of us will stay dry today but there is a different feel to the air with a consistent cool breeze NNW 5-15 mph gusting over 20 mph at times.

Tuesday forecast

We have more summer sunshine on tap for tomorrow, as Tuesday morning temps will start in the upper 50s. The sun tomorrow will help us warm back up a bit and we should see highs in the upper 70s to near 80 degrees. The winds will be lighter, but still from the north keeping temps just below average or normal for late July.

Wednesday forecast

Wednesday is another quiet day with highs in the low to mid 80s and sunny most of the day. We can expect to see an increase in clouds late in the day with some wet weather coming back into play on Thursday.

Thursday forecast

Thursday’s rain and thunder chances should start in the mid morning and into the afternoon. This will have an impact on temps with cooler 60s and 70s during showers. But, if we can get a break in the action midday, we may see low 80s again. There’s a slight chance for a shower Friday, but the model data is more locked into sunshine and warming into the low 80s.
